Now that your blog is all set up and you’ve created your first piece of content for your hungry visitors, it’s time to place something in that post that feeds those visitors with exactly what they’re looking for. Our main goal for this 7-Day Challenge is upon us. We are about to find the perfect product to promote to your customers and finally get your business off the ground and in profit!
WHERE TO FIND THE BEST PRODUCTS TO SELL ON YOUR BLOG
Earning commission for selling someone’s product to your customers is called affiliate marketing. And that’s exactly what we’re going to conquer today. By the end of this challenge, you will be able to call yourself an affiliate marketer.
So what will you need to do as an affiliate marketer? Well, first of all, we will need to find you a great product that you are proud to be affiliated with. On your new blog, and in every blog post you publish, you are going to promote this product. What happens is that your visitors land on your site, see that you have your own domain name and mean serious business, read your post and see that you’re an expert, then notice your recommendation for a great product that will help solve their problems and buy it. And for all this work you’ve done, you will be rewarded with a commission on the sale of that product.
So first things first: let’s find you a great product to promote to your visitors. My favorite site to use for affiliate marketing is called ClickBank. ClickBank is essentially a digital product store. It is a place for people who create ebooks and other digital products and services to sell those products and hook up with affiliate marketers who want to help them sell those products (that’s you and me!). Let’s take a look at ClickBank and see what it has to offer us.
HOW TO FIND THE BEST PRODUCTS TO SELL ON CLICKBANK
The first step you’re going to want to take is to sign up – it’s free and it just takes a second to get an account going. To go straight to their Sign Up page, click here
Once you’re registered, it’s time to browse the marketplace! Literally…
Let’s start out by browsing through the marketplace. On the left column under Categories, you’ll see the various markets in which ClickBank vendors are selling their products. Go ahead and find the one that best suits your niche. For my weight loss example, I am going to click “Health & Fitness”.
As I scan down the page, I can see products being sorted by popularity, and at the bottom I can see that (at this moment in time) there are 213 pages of this stuff! That’s a lot to choose from! So we need to come up with a way to find a product that’s perfect for us.
At the top of this page, to the right of Marketplace, there’s a yellow box with a search field in it that says Find Products. Type in your general niche (for example in my example, I will type in weight loss). Then hit “return”.
You will likely see a huge list of products spanning several pages. We may need to narrow these down. We are going to do this using two factors. The first we are going to look at is called gravity.
Gravity is basically a number that gives you some idea about how well a product sells. If a lot of people are able to sell this product, then the chances that it’s a good product that’s presented well is high. That’s a very good thing! So we’re going to want to try to find a product in your niche that has a gravity above 50.
This is not a hard and fast rule, but rather a suggestion for how to narrow down your choices when in search of the best product for your blog. To order the results of our search by gravity, find the “Sort results by” drop down menu and choose the last option, “Gravity“.
Now as you scan down the list of results, you can see the green figures towards the bottom of each listing under Stats. Gravity is the last number listed. Again, try to find products with a gravity above 50. As you scan to the bottom of the results page, you may have to go to page 2 or 3 or beyond in order to find what you’re looking for. To narrow the results down even further, let’s look at one more parameter.
From here, we need to do an advanced search. Follow me to do this together: click here
Type in your niche again where it says “Enter Keywords“. In the “In This Category” dropdown, choose your niche.
Then scroll down to the Stats section.
Check the box below “Gravity” and type “50″ in the box beside it.
Also check the box below “Avg $/sale” and type “25″ in the box beside it.
Your page should now look something like this:
Now when you click the green Search button, your results will be significantly narrowed. Now that we have fewer choices of higher quality, we can begin using our own judgement to find the perfect product to sell. Browse through the results and read the names of the products. If one catches your eye, click on the red title of the product so that you are taken to the product’s page.
You’ll know when you’ve found the perfect product when you yourself are interested in what the company has to say on their home page. Take a look at the layout and design. Does it seem like something you could be proud to promote? We already took care of popularity by sorting by gravity. The product has the potential to sell. What we need to do is find a product that we are happy to be affiliated with.
Browse around their site until you get a good enough feeling about the company and the product they have to offer. Remember that the product has already proven to sell. That means you don’t have to stress about this step. No matter what product you choose at this stage, you will be able to make money with it.
After browsing through a few of the products on your list, narrow yourself down to one main product you’d like to start promoting. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to move on to the final day in our 7-Day Challenge. Tomorrow we will be placing a link to this product in your blog post so you earn money when your visitors buy your product! Congratulations and see you then!
